SANTA MONICA, CA -- Talking Stick will host a solo exhibition by artist Ione Citrin August 23 through September 25, 2010. A collection of her mixed media artworks will be on display. Ione Citrin is an avant garde artist whose artistic expression takes fantastic shape through her found object collages and mixed media assemblages.
The 2010 Ava Gardner Festival is scheduled for October 8-9, 2010. The kick-off will be at the Festival Gala on Friday evening. A new exhibit, Ava on the Small Screen, featuring costumes from her television projects wll be unveiled. Saturday will feature heritage tours, which take visitors to points of interest in Ava's hometown, Smithfield, and screenings of The Barefoot Contessa, The Night of the Iguana and Showboat.

It will begin with an awards ceremony honoring Sandra Cisneros, Tomás Ybarra-Frausto, and René Yañez for their contributions to the Latino community. Following, performance artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña, will present the San Francisco premier of Strange Democracy. We will end with a VIP after-party!
The inaugural event, the Retrospective Anniversary Exhibition, will traverse through the organization’s inception born of cultural activism to its current standing as an international forum for examination and expression of artistic concepts central to the Latino/Chicano experience. The opening reception will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 7:30-10:00 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through January 29, 2011 and is free.

This internship is for young artists interested in functional ceramics. Assist in preparation for our Annual Chili Bowl Fundraiser. During this event over 800 hand made vessels are sold to the community. The bowls and tumblers are filled with chili, cornbread, and lemonade donated by area restaurants.
